Mike Tyson has been sued by a woman who claims he raped her in the early 1990s, Sports Illustrated is reporting.
The plaintiffs, who filed suit under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, are seeking $5 million in damages.
The woman, who could not be identified, said in an affidavit that she accepted Tyson’s invitation to go to a party in a limousine. However, according to the SI, she alleged that Tyson “violently raped” her when she stepped inside.
She said she experienced “extreme emotional suffering including but not limited to nightmares, panic attacks and flashbacks,” SI reported.
The Adult Survivors Act, signed into law last May, allows people over the age of 18 to sue their alleged abusers, regardless of when the abuse occurred.
Tyson, 56, spent three years in prison in the 1990s for raping beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington in 1991.
