Nothing strikes a deeper chord with a Patriots fan than the mention of Super Bowl XLII.
It’s so bad it seems like it happened only yesterday. Eli Manning seemingly had the strength from the gods to avoid a sack on a critical third down in the waning moments of the fourth quarter, and he lofted a prayer ball that somehow clung to David Tyree’s helmet.
The Giants punted the ball into the end zone and made a defensive stand en route to a 17–14 victory.

Losing a game in an entire season isn’t nearly as bad as Brady laughing at the mention of the Giants holding the Patriots’ offense to 17 points.
Tom Brady’s classic response @plaxicoburress’ predicted that the Giants would win Super Bowl XLII, 23–17.
