The Minnesota Vikings are in need of a quarterback, as Kirk Cousins is only under contract through the end of the 2023 season. They don’t necessarily have to draft a guy to be their next quarterback this year, but it would be a good idea to do so.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman has the Vikings taking that guy in Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker. Being one of the most plugged-in magazines within the ranks of college football, Feldman got some really interesting information from anonymous coaches.
“I think he’s super underrated. He played in two different offenses. I was very impressed with him in both my games and on tape. I know in that offense he’s throwing into space and reading the defender’s leverage.” where they spread you horizontally a lot in one-on-one situations, so he probably only looked at the quarter (coverage) and the man. He’s not reading, ‘Are they rolling strong, rolling weak? doing, reading Cover 2,’ but he’ll hang tight in the pocket. He can throw everything, throw with touch. He might not run as fast as Lewis, but I think That he has been able to survive and improve and that he has better presence in the pocket.
That last choice about running away and making is interesting because it’s not something I thought was cool. The hooker either throws from the pocket or runs the football. He doesn’t really scramble to make up.
Hooker remains the most controversial prospect in the class and will be a fascinating player to watch throughout his career.
