With Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams (knee) limited to practice to begin organized team activities is a very positive development for the team.
On the other side of the ball, the news isn’t as good, with defensive linemen Mike Purcell and DJ Jones both recovering from “minor off-season surgeries,” according to a report from CUSA-TV’s Mike Kliss.
It is not clear which surgeries Purcell and Jones had, but Purcell suffered elbow and ankle injuries last year and Jones suffered shoulder and knee injuries in 2022.
Elsewhere on the injury front, coach Sean Payton said wide receiver Jerry Jeudy “tore up his thigh” in Thursday’s practice and will recover.
Meanwhile, cornerback Pat Surtain, safety JL Skinner, outside linebackers Christopher Allen and Ray Wilborn and wide receivers Tim Patrick and KJ Heimler worked out on the sidelines during Thursday’s practice. Special teams running back Aaron Patrick (recovering from a torn ACL) has also been sidelined.
Overall, this is mostly good news for Denver on the injury front. The recovering players also seem to be coming along and the new injuries seem mostly minor. The team will hope that this trend will continue this season as well.
